Shanghai-listed equipment manufacturer Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co Ltd (ZPMC) has won a contract to provide 22 container cranes for port operator PSA Singapore.

The contract is worth SGD 240 million (USD 167 million), ZPMC said.

Under the deal, the cranes should start their delivery in 2017 and will be delivered in batches throughout the year.

According to ZPMC, the latest contract will not only bring about positive earnings, it will also benefit the company in terms of maintaining its global market share on port equipment.

PSA Singapore Terminals operates a total of 57 berths at its container terminals in Tanjong Pagar, Keppel, Brani and Pasir Panjang.

Pasir Panjang Terminal is PSA’s most advanced terminal. It is equipped with berths up to 16 metres deep and with quay cranes able to reach across 23 rows of containers to accommodate the world’s largest container ships.
