In Mexico, Tampico port authority is progressing a tender for the construction, fitting out and operation of a common user multipurpose terminal.
The concession encompasses an area of 139 hectares, including an option for a further 37 hectares of adjacent land, currently privately run, but owned by the port.
Interested parties have until June 6 to pay 500,000 pesos to obtain all documents relevant to the concession. Thereafter, any Mexicans or foreigners backed by capital of at least 100m pesos will be able to bid.
Any type of cargo can be handled at the terminal and approval will be written into the concession for all types of warehousing.
Technical bids are due to be opened on October 4 and those relating to finance on October 18, with the concession to be awarded on October 25. The initial concession will run for a period of 20 years, with the option to extend it for a similar period.
