eeSea analysts have gathered sufficient evidence to suggest that Maersk Line's AC1 Far East to West Coast North America service is likely to be suspended in the near future.
Having observed inconsistencies in schedules since February 2024 and taking into account that just 2 of the 8 vessel slots currently retain active assignments while the rest are blanked, it's likely we will see an announcement soon from the carrier. The two remaining vessels - REN JIAN 25 and IRENES RAY - are not currently granted any proforma calls on the service beyond the first week of May in Maersk Line's public schedule portals. Similarly, there are no arrivals/departures assigned to the AC1 that are availabe on the port pairs search engine provided by the carrier.
The standalone Maersk service was introduced in July 2016, and operates on a weekly basis with 4.3K TEU average vessel size. The proforma rotation is: Ningbo - Qingdao - Busan - Lazaro Cardenas - Posorja.
Considering there is no shortage of demand for connections to Mexico and South America in the face of Trump's proposed tariff plans, it is possible we could see a refactored introduction of a similar string following the heels of a suspension.
