PSA Indonesia (PSA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (KAI) to jointly collaborate on enhancing the rail and rail-linked logistics ecosystem in Indonesia. The MOU serves to drive and align both partners’ efforts to enhance connectivity and create an efficient and sustainable multi-modal transportation network in Indonesia. PSA and KAI will also work together in joint feasibility studies to develop cooperation plans and explore potential co-investment in new or existing rail-linked infrastructure in Indonesia. This includes joint management and operations in areas such as global logistics services, railway-based container terminals, and multimodal Door-to-Door (D2D) integrated freight transportation services. The partnership seeks to leverage synergies and their combined expertise – PSA’s presence and experience in rail-linked projects globally, including the suite of innovative digital solutions which will enhance efficiency and connectivity across the supply chain nodes, and KAI’s established and extensive rail network in Indonesia. PSA and KAI will also collaborate in talent development through cross-cultural training and exchange programmes to level up knowledge sharing and value creation. The MOU was signed by Mr Ong Kim Pong, Regional CEO Southeast Asia, PSA International, and Mr Didiek Hartantyo, President Director of KAI, at the Jakarta Railways Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 25 August 2023. Mr Ong said, “We are pleased to embark on this strategic partnership with KAI, the biggest operator of public railway in Indonesia. This is a significant milestone for us as we advance our Port+ services, PSA’s unique differentiator in mid-mile logistics, to meet our customers’ dynamic needs. As an integrated global logistics enabler, PSA is committed to work alongside like-minded partners to better service our customers in the region and accentuate the creation of an efficient and sustainable logistics network.” Mr Didiek said, “This exciting collaboration with PSA will unite our shared expertise within the realm of logistics. The utilization of rail transport stands as a testament to our commitment to enhance transportation efficiency while remaining steadfast in our eco-friendly initiatives. Our joint efforts will give rise to a comprehensive logistics ecosystem, seamlessly amalgamating our domestic networks with global connectivity. Through this partnership, we are dedicated to establishing a robust distribution system aimed at reducing national logistics costs."
