The following story at CMA CGM:
With the extended Lunar New Year holidays and concerns regarding the spread of the Novel Coronavirus, terminal operations and pick-up of inbound containers in China have been slow.
Consequently, most reefer plugs at the yards of all container terminals in Shanghai, Ningbo and Tianjin/Xingang are already being occupied. CMA CGM is then forced to divert Reefer cargo to other ports.
To cover the additional costs, CMA CGM will apply a Port Congestion Surcharge (PCS) as follows:
- Perimeter: Exports to Shanghai, Ningbo and Tianjin/Xingang
- Cargo: Reefer
- Amount: USD 1,250 per Reefer container
- Payment: prepaid
- Application: Effective immediately (except for Transpacific services > as from March 13th, 2020)
For ongoing units and those which have already been rerouted, a specific surcharge will be calculated at the time of the reloading as soon as space is made available on these terminals.
