Port of New York and New Jersey:
The seaport moved 648,930 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) in April 2023, positioning the port as the nation’s second busiest for the first four months of the year. The import of fewer than 23,000 loaded TEUs separated the nation’s top three busiest ports in April as U.S. retailers work to move out goods stored in domestic warehouses during last year’s supply chain challenges and global production demands decline.
The seaport moved 7 percent more cargo in April 2023 compared to pre-pandemic April 2019.
