MSC expands offering: New direct service from Gothenburg to South America

The following release was published by APM Terminals:

Since March 2022, MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) has called weekly at APM Terminals Gothenburg for onward travel to the US. MSC is now taking the next step by adding two new destinations to its service, offering the Swedish market an exclusive direct connection to South America.

"The new US line has been enthusiastically received and it’s clear that the Swedish market values the reliable and cost-effective transport that comes with a direct connection. With the pandemic fresh in mind, you want to secure your supply chains, and transhipment always involves a potential risk," says Fredrik Magaji, Commercial Director at MSC Sweden AB.

The Nordic region’s only direct line to South America Despite economic turbulence, forest exports remain strong and Swedish forest products are highly sought after on the global market, not least in South America. MSC has chosen to meet the needs of its customers and added Ecuador and Peru to its existing US service at the start of the year.

"Swedish companies are often market leaders in their industries, and forestry products are no exception. It is strategically important that we help increase their competitiveness on the global stage by offering safe and sustainable logistics solutions," says Fredrik Magaji.

Efficient port stays "The new line also means that we are strengthening our offering via Gothenburg, which is very positive,” he adds. “Achieving high delivery precision requires fast vessel turnover and great flexibility, and in this APM Terminals is an excellent partner. In addition, we are proud to be able to offer our customers environmentally friendly rail solutions to virtually all of Sweden from APM Terminals in Gothenburg."
