by Patrick Fach-Pedersen

SINES (PORTUGAL) IS THE NEW TRANSHIPMENT PORT FOR CARGO EX NWC,UK,SCAN BALTIC AND WILL LOAD AU/NZ CARGO DIRECT ON ‘AUSTRALIA EXPRESS’SERVICE VESSELS

MSC has effected a change to it’s traditional transhipment arrangements for cargoes exported from Scan Baltic and NWC/UK load ports.

With immediate effect NWC/UK/Scan Baltic cargo will be transhipped at the port of Sines in Portugal which has been upgraded to a direct load port for the ‘Australia Express’ Southbound service.

Gioia Tauro (IT) will remain as a direct call on the schedule in order to cover transhipments ex Black Sea and East Med ports.

Additionally, UK to AU/NZ traffic is bolstered with the introduction of exports through ‘London Gateway Port’ to compliment the service ex Felixstowe. Transit times via Sines will be shorter in case of exports through ‘London Gateway Port’.
