The Saudi Ports Authority, Mawani, has announced the addition of the new shipping service “GRC,” operated by Emirates Shipping Line, to Jeddah Islamic Port. This reflects the increasing growth rates of the maritime sector in the Kingdom, operational efficiency, and rising investor confidence in the Kingdom’s ports.

The new service will facilitate market needs and the growing trade in the region, solidifying the Kingdom’s standing as a global logistics hub bridging three continents, in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS).

The new shipping service connects Jeddah Islamic Port with the ports of Jebel Ali in the UAE, Aqaba in Jordan, and Sokhna in Egypt, with a capacity of 2,550 TEUs.

It is worth noting that Jeddah Islamic Port features 62 multi-purpose berths, a logistics service park for storing and re-exporting, and a direct transport system via trucks to and from the port. Additionally, there are several specialized terminals and advanced facilities, including two container throughput terminals with a handling capacity of 7.5 million TEUs, two general cargo terminals, two ship repair and maintenance docks, and a range of berths for marine services, including towing and pilotage, with a total capacity of 130 million tons.
