In Argentina, the ports of Quequén, Puerto Madryn, Comodoro Rivadavia and Ushuaia, as well as a new harbour at Itá Ibaté, will all receive state and private sector funding in 2017.
The modernisation of Quequén will absorb $200m from both sectors and will include a 100,000-tonne capacity malthouse.
Itá Ibaté will be a new port on the Paraná river, capable of receiving both barges and container vessels. It will require $331m of investment over 14 months.
Puerto Madryn is to upgrade two quays, while Comodoro Rivadavia is to resume work on expanding two quays. Upgrades at Ushuaia will cost $408m.
