Korea, Inc has rallied to club together to save the nation’s hard-pressed maritime sector. At a government convened meeting yesterday in Seoul 10 organisations signed an agreement to try and generate more shipbuilding orders on home soil.
The 10 organisations are the Korea Shipowners’ Association, Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding Association, Korea Shipbuilding Industry Cooperative, Maritime Finance Center, Korea Maritime Guarantee Insurance, Korea Western Power, Korea Gas Corporation, Korea Petroleum Association, Korea Iron & Steel Association and Korea LNG Bunkering Industry Association.
Among a raft of initiatives, the group will look to expand ship financing and pioneer green ship technology.
