Helsingborg increases container capacity by 50%

The port of Helsingborg has begun use of its third container quay, increasing the port’s container capacity by 50 percent. The quay – which until now has been used for handling of pellets – has a water depth of 13 meters, and is now both wider and stronger.

“With the greatly increased capacity, we make the port more attractive for customers who have better access to enter the port with containers,” says Nicklas Romell, sales manager at the port of Helsingborg.

Vessels with a length of up to 225 meters can moor at the new container quay, equipped with a new mobile crane.

The investment, which amounts to 55 million SEK, makes it possible for the port of Helsingborg to service several large ships simultaneously.
