Hapag-Lloyd - MSW service update

The following release was published by *Hapag-Lloyd:

If you are shipping fresh cargo such as avocados, grapes or other temperature-sensitive commodities, as well as frozen reefer or dry cargo, our Mediterranean South America West Coast (MSW) service now offers a direct connection to and from Callao, Peru.

With this update, MSW becomes the only service in the market providing direct coverage between the Mediterranean and Central Peru, eliminating transshipment for northbound reefer cargo and ensuring more reliable and faster delivery. In addition, this change increases capacity from Central Peru northbound via the Panama Canal and, together with our SWX service to North Europe, offers two weekly departures from Callao, Peru.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • We are adding Callao, Peru to the MSW rotation
  • Buenaventura, Colombia will no longer be part of the service. Imports to and exports from Buenaventura, Colombia will be handled via transshipment.
  • Northbound reefer cargo from Central Peru to the Mediterranean will benefit from a direct connection with no transshipment or operational interruptions.
  • Cargo flows to and from North and South Chile will also benefit from improved connectivity, with only one transshipment required
