The twelfth and final vessel of the Hamburg Express Class marks the successful completion of an entire series of ultra-large vessels.
The ceremony took place at Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing GmbH & Co. KG, Germany’s only deep-sea port and a strategic location for Hapag-Lloyd and the Gemini Cooperation.
In a heartfelt moment, Wibke Friedrichs, wife of the former Hapag-Lloyd board member Anthony Firmin (COO), performed the honors of the christening.
Customers, business partners, and distinguished guests, including Olaf Lies, Minister President of Lower Saxony, joined the celebration.
The Hamburg Express Class completes our three-year newbuild program. At 399 meters and 23,664 TEU, these vessels are among the largest and most advanced in the world to date, setting new standards in sustainability and performance.
We wish the “Wilhelmshaven Express” and her crew safe travels. May the Hamburg Express Class keep sailing forward with strength, innovation, and success for many years to come.
