Hapag-Lloyd & Arkas: New Short Sea Service – Black Sea – Mediterranean Express Service (BMX)

Hapag-Lloyd introduces a new service effective February 16, 2016.

We are pleased to inform you that Hapag-Lloyd will introduce the Black Sea Mediterranean Express Service which will offer a weekly connection between ports in Egypt, Israel, Turkey and major Black Sea ports.

The first voyage of the Black Sea Mediterranean Express will commence from Damietta February 16, 2016. The port rotation will be:

Damietta • Port Said (East) • Ashdod • Istanbul (Mardas & Marport) • Novorossiysk • Odessa • Constantza • Istanbul • Izmit • Izmir • Damietta

Transit Times

The new service setup will enable Hapag-Lloyd to offer:

  • Weekly and direct connection from Mediterranean port to major Black Sea ports with competitive transit times.
  • Vessels with large reefer capacity in order to offer transport solutions for a large variety of high quality reefer products.
  • Connection to/from Black Sea to Hapag-Lloyd’s comprehensive global liner service network especially to/from North America, Latin America, Far East, Oceania and North European ports.

Additional notes:

  • Hapag-Lloyd will refer to the service as the Black Sea Mediterranean Express Service (BMX), while Arkas Line will refer to it as the East Med/Black Sea Service (EBS).
  • Commencing Feb. 16 from Damietta, the BMX/EBS will operate with three vessels with a nominal capacity of 1,700 TEUs.
  • The German carrier will provide one vessel, while The Turkish carrier will provide the additional two vessels
