Greatly enhanced Service Network – Mediterranean to/from North America

THE Alliance and Hapag-Lloyd have announced today our new enhanced port coverage in the Mediterranean – North America market. Further to THE Alliance port coverage of the AL7 service, we are pleased to inform you that Hapag-Lloyd will continue our well-established cooperation with ZIM Lines on this service also within the Eastern Mediterranean Area. We will continue to offer direct coverage to/from Haifa, Ashdod and Piraeus. Furthermore, we will add the ports of Mersin and Izmir to this service.

The complete rotation of our AL7 will be as follows:
Valencia – Tarragona – Mersin – Ashdod – Haifa – Izmir – Piraeus – Barcelona – Tarragona – Valencia – Algeciras – Halifax – New York – Norfolk – Savannah – Valencia

As mentioned in the press release, there will also be an improved rotation for the AL6 service as follows:
Salerno – Livorno – La Spezia – Genoa – FOS – Halifax – New York – Norfolk – Savannah – Salerno

Both services will start beginning of April 2017 with the launch of THE Alliance product (subject to completion of all relevant regulatory requirements).
Combining the strength of both loops, Hapag-Lloyd will be able to offer further increased value for our customers in this market:

  • Fast transit times between Italy and the North American East Coast and vice versa
  • Addition of FOS, Salerno and La Spezia as new direct ports of call
  • New direct connection Turkey – North America in both directions
  • Continued direct coverage of Israel and Greece
  • Connections to the Black Sea and Levant Areas via Hapag-Lloyd’s comprehensive feeder network
  • Connectivity via Hapag-Lloyd’s prime services to Montreal, Mexico/US Gulf/ Florida and US/Canada Westcoast
