Ocean Alliance member carriers – CMA GM, COSCO Shipping, Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) and Evergreen have announced the launch of their OCEAN Alliance Day 3 Product that will commence in April 2019.
Simultaneously, OOCL and COSCO rolled out the lists of their services which will take effect in April 2019; CMA CGM issued a press release about extending the group’s cooperation until 2027 but no such list was attached and no announcement has been published by Evergreen. OOCL and COSCO use their own service names, but we are choosing the OCEAN Alliance’s service name to reflect the current offerings.
The service enhancements included a total of 40 services, with 37 services on OOCL’s announcement and 40 with COSCO’s. Divided by region, there are 19 Transpacific (including 8 PSW, 4 PNW and 7 ECNA), 7 Asia – Northern Europe, 5 Asia – Mediterranean, 3 Transatlantic and 6 Far East – Middle East (5 Gulf and 2 Red Sea).
Overall, most existing services have no or minor changes, except one new service added on the Asia to Northern Europe network. OOCL tags it as Loop 7 (LL7), COSCO as AEU9, and in line with the other alliance names at eeSea, we have given it the alliance name NEU7.
Also, OCEAN Alliance’s MEA1/PNW1 and PNW2/MEA5 pendulums are splitting, resulting in 4 separate services. MEA1 and PNW1 are splitting from one service into two, both dropping the call at Port Klang; PNW2 and MEA5 are also breaking into two services both dropping calls at Singapore and Cai Mep, with PNW2 adding a call at Yokohama while MEA5 is adding calls at Qingdao and Port Klang and an extra call at Abu Dhabi. For the MED3 Service, COSCO added a call at Mersin but OOCL did not, we will be watching to find out which is accurate in the future. OOCL will begin advertising a Pacific China South 2 [PCS2] service in April 2019, which has already been an Ocean Alliance offering through the other carriers: the PSW7 service.
A full list of changes, all of which have now been entered into the eeSea database, follows.
