DP World and Eurogate won concessions at Limassol port

Consortium lead by German Eurogate International won concession of container terminal at Limassol port in Cyprus, while DP World will be the operator for multipurpose passenger terminal. The Cyprus Ministry of Transport announced results from the recently ended tender for operations of the port and will enter in further negotiations with the winners for concession contract. The agreements for operation of container and passenger terminals is expected to conclude for period of 25-30 years, including development and handling of the facilities, as well as development of infrastructure. The further features of the contract should be negotiation between the operators and Cyprus Ministry of Transport during the next month.

DP World and GAP Vassilopoulos won the tender to operate marine transportation at Limassol port in Cyprus. The term of concession is expected to be contracted for 10-20 years. Financial details of the contract were not disclosed and currently part of negotiations.

“We are very satisfied by the process conducted and the end result”, said the Cyprus’ minister of transport, communications and works, Marios Demetriades.

The Cyprus Ministry of Transport and Communications announced earlier that received total of 14 applications for participation in the tender, including 6 applications for concession of container terminal, 3 applications for operating maritime transport and 5 applications for operating multi-purpose passenger terminal at Limassol port. Cyprus hopes to raise 1.4 billion EUR by privatising several state enterprises until 2018, as Limassol port being one of them.
