March 28th, 2022 – Update 6
The purpose of this advisory is to provide you with the latest update regarding the recent COVID-19 resurges’ impact across China. The disinfection and quarantine measures have been implemented by local authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Despite a stricter precautionary and control measures being taken, we remain fully operational to leave the least impact on your business with limited Work in Office Ratio and increased work-from-home mode.
We’re closely monitoring the situation and aim to bring you the most up-to-date information so that we can continue to serve our customers’ supply chain needs given the context of the situation.
Highlights:
- Some depots in Shanghai remain closed from 28th Mar until further notice. A list of available deports is attached to this advisory.
- Trucking service in/out Shanghai will be severely impacted by 30% due to a full lockdown on Shanghai’s Pudong and Puxi areas in turn until 5th April.
- All the warehouses in Shanghai will remain closed from 28th Mar to 1st Apr.
- AIR operations in Shanghai for existing cargo in warehouses stay normal. However, new cargo acceptance will be impacted due to the first mile delivery and labor resource constraints.
- Shanghai counter office remains closed from 28th Mar until further notice. Shenzhen counter office is open from 9 AM to 5 PM from 28th Mar and visitors need the negative NAT report within 48 hours.
Terminals
Terminals in GCA main ports remain business as usual including vessel operation, yard handling and gate-in & out.
Vessels
Vessel call and departure stay normal.
Empty pick-up & return
Some depots in Shanghai remain closed from 28th Mar until further notice. A list of available deports is attached to this advisory for clients arranging empty pick-up and return.
Landside
The overall landside transportation situation is dynamic subject to change. Trucking service for now is still available in China main ports and nearby cities providing the drivers hold negative Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) report requested by local governments. Specifically, we foresee trucking service between Shenzhen and nearby cities has gradually recovered while trucking service in/out Shanghai will be severely impacted by 30% due to a full lockdown on Shanghai’s Pudong and Puxi areas in turn until 5th April. Consequently, there will be longer delivery time and a possible rise in transport costs such as detour fee and highway fee.
Warehouse
Shanghai: Warehouses will remain closed from 28th Mar to 1st Apr.
Shenzhen, Ningbo, Xiamen and Qingdao: Warehouses keep operations for now. However drivers are requested to show both health code and negative NAT report within 48 hours for cargo delivery.
Hong Kong: Distribution Center (HKDC) keeps operations for now. Drivers and helpers need to complete vaccination when they come to HKDC according to the government’s vaccine bubble requirements.
AIR
Shanghai: Operations for existing cargo in warehouses stay normal. However, new cargo acceptance will be impacted due to the first mile delivery and labor resource constraints. We have noticed that Cargolux (CV) has canceled their schedule for the rest of this week and foresee many airlines will be evaluating the plan for flight cancellation.
Hong Kong: Due to the suspension of the trucking service between Hong Kong and Mainland, barge service is taken as an alternative for cargo moving. Airfreight space reservation will not be proceeded until the cargo is delivered to Hong Kong airport warehouse. As a consequence, It will take longer lead time than usual for the airfreight service.
Counter
Given the limited Work in Office Ratio is applied in some cities, we encourage you to refer to China counter contingency plan and adopt self-service online to avoid the business disruption.
Shanghai: Office remains closed from 28th Mar until further notice. Mandatory documents will be handled by Nanjing office instead.
Shenzhen: Office hours start from 9 AM to 5 PM from 28th Mar. Visitors need the negative NAT report within 48 hours.
