Connecting King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam to 6 regional and global ports

This new shipping service is a significant step towards improving the Liner Shipping Connectivity Index and aligns with the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.

The SIG service connects King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam to several key destinations in South East Asia and India. These include Singapore, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Kochi in India, Colombo in Sri Lanka, and Jebel Ali in the UAE. Regular weekly trips will be made using a vessel with a capacity of 2,700 TEU.

This new service will contribute to enhancing the competitive advantage of King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. With its vast area of 19 km2, the port features 43 fully serviced and equipped berths capable of accommodating large ships. It offers comprehensive operational services and modern equipment, allowing it to handle various types of cargo. The port's capacity stands at an impressive 105 million tons of goods and containers.

Mawani's success in increasing maritime shipping services, including the addition of 28 new services in 2023, has resulted in the Kingdom achieving its highest progress in the Liner Shipping Connectivity Index. According to the UNCTAD report for Q4 of 2023, issued by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the Kingdom achieved a score of 79.01 points, surpassing its previous record of 77.66 points in Q3 of the same year.
