Brazil's southern ports situation

The following release was published by Maersk:

In our commitment to keeping you informed and ensuring the seamless management of your cargo, we hereby provide you with an update on the ongoing developments regarding weather conditions affecting the southern ports of Brazil.

The port of Navegantes remains closed due to the strong current in the channel caused by heavy rain in the region. Regrettably, we are unable to provide a specific timeline for normalization due to adverse weather conditions. As a result, we are diverting vessels to alternate ports and declaring the end of the voyage. This information will be individually communicated concerning the affected vessels.

This contingency plan is taken under Force Majeure and in compliance with clauses 19.1(e), 20(c) and 22.3 of our Bill of Lading Terms & Conditions.

Some level of congestion is expected in nearby ports such as Paranagua and Itapoa for the upcoming days. We deeply value the cooperation of our customers in expediting customs clearance for import volume as much as possible.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience resulting from this situation, which is beyond the control of Maersk.

Our team is ready to assist you with any further information or inquiries you may have.

Any updates will be promptly communicated through our customer advisories.
