A.P. Moller-Maersk: Covid-19 updates – Greater China Area

The following advisory was published by A.P. Moller – Maersk:

March 14th, 2022 – Update 1

The purpose of this advisory is to provide you with the latest update regarding the recent COVID-19 flare-up’s impact across China. The disinfection and quarantine measures have been implemented by local authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Despite a stricter precautionary and control measures being taken, we remain fully operational to leave the least impact on your business with limited Work in Office Ratio and increased work-from-home mode.

We are closely monitoring the situation and aim to bring you the most up-to-date information so that we can continue to serve our customers’ supply chain needs given the context of the situation.

Terminals

Terminals in GCA main ports remain business as usual including vessel operation, yard handling and gate-in & out.

Vessels

Vessel call and departure stay normal.

Landside

The overall landside transportation situation is dynamic subject to change. Trucking service for now is still available providing the drivers hold negative Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) report requested by local governments. We foresee the overall trucking operational efficiency will be reduced significantly due to the frequent NATs, especially in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, West Pearl River Delta, Shanghai, Yangtze inland ports, Qingdao and Tianjin.

Warehouse

Warehouses in Shenzhen will remain closed from 14th Mar to 20th Mar.

Warehouses in Shanghai and Qingdao keep operations for now. However drivers are requested to show health code for cargo delivery and need negative NAT report within 48 hours in case they are from medium-high risk area.

HKDC (Hong Kong Distribution Center) keep operations for now. Drivers and helpers need to complete vaccination when they come to HKDC according to the government’s vaccine bubble requirements.

Air

Hong Kong: Due to the suspension of the trucking service between Hong Kong and Mainland, barge service is taken as an alternative for cargo moving. Airfreight space reservation will not be proceeded until the cargo is delivered to Hong Kong airport warehouse. As a consequence, It will take longer lead time than usual for the airfreight service.

Shenzhen: AIR warehousing and pick-up service have been suspended until further notice.

Counter

Given the limited Work in Office Ratio is applied in some cities, we encourage you to refer to China counter contingency plan and adopt self-service online to avoid the business disruption.

Hong Kong: Office hours start from 8:30 AM -to 12:00 PM every Tuesday and Thursday only as usual.

Shenzhen: Office is closed from 14th Mar to 18th Mar. Mandatory documents will be handled by Guangzhou office instead.

Shanghai: Office building is accessible to visitors who hold negative NAT report within 48 hours.

Your business need is the utmost priority to us and we aim to bring more clarity and visibility for your business decision. We thank you for your understanding and support.
